Reading List
- Can I import the bookmarks on iPhone Safari into Littera?
Unfortunately no. Apple has not released any programming interface to allow third party app such as Littera to access the bookmarks database in Safari.
- I found a web address while using Safari that I would like to add into Littera. How to go about doing it?
You can use iPhone or iPod touch's copy-and-paste function to copy the address while on Safari. And then from within Littera, add an article and paste the address into the URL field.
- What happen when I hide a reading list?
You can hide a reading list by taping on the "Hidden" switch in the properties screen of the reading list. Hidden reading list will not be displayed on the home screen. However all articles in hidden reading lists will still appear in the system reading lists "All" and "Starred".

Yes. The option is under Settings > System Lists.
- What is Auto-Mark Read?

- What is Auto-Delete?
With Auto-Delete, you can setup Littera to automatically delete articles based on article read status and/or created date. For example, you can setup to delete articles after you have read (articles read status checked) them for 3 days. Or you can setup to delete articles that is older than 7 days. Each reading list has its own Auto-Delete rules.
Enhanced Web Reader
- Why do I still see images and pictures when I switch on the Text Mode?
Text Mode currently is only able to filter off most but not all images in web articles. The images you see are probably from advertisements. We are working to enhance the capability of Text Mode in future release.
- I have switched on the Orientation Lock but why is it not working all the time?
Orientation Lock applies only when you are reading web articles using the enhanced web reader. Other views will switch to landscape or portrait depending on the orientation of your iPhone or iPod touch.
When Orientation Lock is On, Littera will lock the screen orientation when web reader is started. For example, if you are on landscape mode when you open a web article to read, the screen will be locked into landscape orientation.
- How do I turn on fullscreen mode?
You can turn on and off fullscreen mode under Settings>Fullscreen Mode.
- How do I show the toolbars when the web reader is in full screen mode?
Tap once on the web reader screen to toggle on and off the full screen mode. You need to avoid tapping on web links in the article.
- What is the difference between Text Zooming and zooming using the standard pinch action?
Littera Text Zooming enlarge the base text font. This will allow you to have a bigger font for reading when you double-tap the text to fit the screen. If you use the standard pinch to zoom in for a larger font, only portion of text is displayed on the screen, and you need to scroll left or right to read the full text.
When article is rendered in small font due to site design, tap on the Text Zooming button to enlarge it. And then double-tap to fit the text to the screen. Or rotate device to landslide for bigger text.
Sync Service - General
- Is there a way to change the sync service for a reading list once it is setup?
There is no way to change the sync service once it is setup for a reading list. We are considering adding this support in future release.
- Why don't you have your own bookmarking website similar to Delicious?
There are already far too many bookmarks database options available. On your local desktop, browser applications such as Safari, Chrome, Firefox etc each has its own bookmarks database. And you can have bookmarks on the net using Delicious, MobileMe or Chrome Bookmarks for example. Rather than having you to manage yet another database, Littera aims to support existing bookmarking services.
Sync Service - Delicious
- Can I create new Delicious account from within Littera?
No. Delicious does not provide a programming interface for account creation. Please visit http://delicious.com to create an account.
- I have an existing Delicious account, why is Littera asking for Yahoo! ID for login?
Delicious is migrating all accounts to use Yahoo! ID for login starting mid Oct 2009. You can convert your Delicious account to use Yahoo! ID. Littera supports only Delicious account with a Yahoo! ID login, as this is the direction moving forward for Delicious.
- Can I use more than one Delicious account from within Littera?
There can only be one Delicious account at a time within Littera.
- Do you keep my Delicious account information and password?
No. Littera is using the industry standard OAuth secure API method to authenticate your Delicious credential. You authorize Littera for the access to your Delicious bookmarks using a login page provided by Yahoo! and Delicious. Littera has no access to your login id and password.
- One of my reading list is synced with Delicious. If I remove that reading list, does it also remove my Delicious bookmarks?
No. Only local copy of the bookmarks in the reading list are removed when you remove the whole reading list.
Sync Service - RSS Feed
- What are some behaviors of RSS Feed sync service?
RSS Feed is a one way sync from your RSS subscription to Littera reading list, as this is the nature of RSS syndication.

Littera supports both RSS and Atom formats and their variants.

Littera supports RSS feeds for URL with "http://" protocol. Please check if your RSS has an URL with non-supported protocol such as "feed://".
Sync Service - Twitter
- What are some behaviors of Twitter sync service?
Tweets without web links are filtered off. Littera is designed for retrieving links from tweets to cut down the 'noises' from tweets. This allows you to focus on web links mentioned in tweets.
- Is Littera a Twitter client?
Littera is not a full Twitter client thus has no other Twitter related features other than harvesting links in tweets.
- What is query string?
When you use the query string option to enter the source of your Twitter sync service, you can specify query string as supported by Twitter's search API. This allows you to use advanced search operator. Please visit Twitter search operators page for the list of available options.
- The link address Littera pointing to is different from the web address mentioned in the tweet. Why is this so?
Due to the 140 characters limit of Twitter, most tweets utilize URL shortener service to make the web address shorter. Thus it is common to see web addresses such as http://bit.ly/cxYNtt in tweets which will be redirected to actual web addresses when you visit them. Littera expands the shorten URL to actual address when importing the tweets.
